What if, in some sort of sci-fi solar flare cataclysm, it was impossible for humans to have more kids? No more babies. It's an intriguing question. I think we would do it right. Children would suddenly become the most important thing on earth.
How would we treat the last generation? Would we say to the youngest student on Earth, "sorry the school is really run-down and crowded and poorly staffed, but we don't want to invest in you?" Would we let the last generation grow up in poverty, or would we do everything we could to ensure that this one last time, we did it right?

I doubt it, why would anyone care if the last people got an education? To what end?
ReplyDeleteThey would be the last chance to solve the problem or create something that out lived humans.
ReplyDeleteWhy would humans be concerned with what outlived humans?
ReplyDeleteThe same reason individual people are concerned with creating something that will outlive them, whether it's children, art work, or a building named after them.
ReplyDeleteIf there would no longer be people to appreciate the art or buildings, then what would be the reason to care?
ReplyDeleteWhat about an alien intelligence? We were born to graffiti the world: we were here.
ReplyDeleteThat's a cool idea
